About Us

Nature’s source to perfect hair belongs to the shea tree, and perfection can’t be rushed.

It can take up to 50 years for an African shea tree to produce nuts. When shea nuts are finally cracked open and grained in a traditional process they reveal a butter rich in vitamins A, E and F, essential fatty acids, proteins and cinnamon acid. These natural elements moisturize dry hair, increase scalp circulation, and prevent free radical damage.

Saryna Key™ proudly launched four new shea butter collections that are individually formulated for damaged, curly, colour treated or fine hair. These four product collections also feature natural ingredients including wheat, apple, cotton and silk proteins as well as amino acids. Our goal is to revitalize all hair types using shea butter and other nourishing natural ingredients. Saryna Key™ is proud to be an industry leader by introducing the world to the beauty benefits of shea butter.

As part of the Saryna Key™ commitment to environmental conservation and ethical practices, our bottles are 100% recyclable and our products are cruelty free.

From Argan Oil to Shea Butter

Saryna Key™ was developed by Mike Sabag, the founder of Moroccanoil.

In 2004, Mike Sabag created his first Argan oil-enriched hair products. At that time, there was no other hair oil product on the market. Forever changing the way hair products were created and sold, Mike released the original Moroccanoil.

The signature glass bottle mimics pharmaceutical bottles, symbolizing the original Moroccanoil commitment to hair health and beauty in one product. Shortly after the original Moroccanoil was sold, Mike turned his attention to shea butter and its beauty benefits.

For Saryna Key™, our highest priority is product quality. As Mike was the first to recognize the benefits of the Argan oil in the original Moroccanoil, he was also the first to recognize the benefits of shea butter. The natural keratin properties extracted from the nut have made Saryna Key™ a leader in the cosmetic world.

Our faith is a constant reminder that no matter how talented and creative we are, we must always thank the creator for the gifts and clues He leaves for us to discover. That is why both the original Moroccanoil and Saryna Key™ packaging have “IN GOD WE TRUST” scribed in Hebrew on the front.

In 2007, Mike Sabag, CEO of Saryna Key™, revealed the beauty benefits of Pure African Shea Butter to the world. It was clear to Mike that shea butter was a uniquely wonderful raw material. It is rich in vitamins, minerals, natural keratin, antioxidants, and amino acids. A supplier in South Africa introduced Mike to Saryna Commodore, an experienced anthropologist. She spent most of her adult life in Africa, volunteering in the villages of indigenous people while studying their culture and lifestyle.

During her years in Africa, Saryna studied the shea nut and its medicinal properties. She observed the various day-to-day uses of the shea nut by the women in the villages and noticed how it transformed their skin and hair. Shea butter was an integral part of their lives and a common solution to many ailments. It was then that she understood the value of the African shea nut.

“Our first conversation sailed into the worlds of creativity and imagination. It became a mutual desire to develop and reveal to the world the value and gifts of shea butter” says Mike.
Together we completed the final mission of her research by formulating a series of hair products that are both cosmetic and medicinal. Thus, Saryna Key™ was born. The name Saryna Key™ refers to “Saryna’s key for health and beauty.”
